Rigoberto Barrera, Sr. age 63 went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Ft. Worth, TX. Services for Rigoberto will be at 10 am Monday, February 12 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Eastland. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-7 pm with a Rosary starting at 7 pm at Edwards Funeral Home at 411 S. Mulberry in Eastland. Burial will be at the Eastland City Cemetery.
Rigoberto was born in Rio Grande, TX on January 15, 1955 to Benito and Alicia Guerra Barrera. He married Hortencia Garcia on December 28, 1974 in South Texas. Rigoberto was a truck driver by trade and enjoyed traveling. He was a wonderful all around man. He would say he might not have a lot of money but he was the richest person around because of his wonderful kids and grandkids. He loved fishing and family and was the type of man who would help anyone anytime he was able to help.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Hortencia Barrera of Olden, son, Rigoberto Barrera, Jr. of Cisco, son, Jason Barrera and Amanda of Lamesa, son Benito Barrera and Eloisa of Lamesa, daughter Marisela Lucio and Jorge of Ft. Worth and son Carlos Barrera and Lisa of Abilene. He is survived by grandchildren; Rigo Barrera, Britany Barrera and Andre, Ramon Barrera, Stephnie Vega, Michelle Vega, Jaiden Barrera, Carisa Barrera, Ariel Borjon, Mia Barrera, Jaime Barrera, and Caiden Barrera, and great grandchild, Arya Pesina. He is also survived by his mother, Alicia Barrera of Eastland and brother and sisters; Mary Rodriguez and Jesse of Amarillo, Norma Ruiz and Lupe of Olton, Joel Barrera and Mary Jane of Eastland, Vianey Barrera and Oscar of Amarillo and Delma Barrera of Eastland.
Rigoberto is preceded in death by his father, Benito, one son, Jimmy Barrera and a nephew, Anthony DeLeon.
