Robert Wayne Cherry, 81 of Ranger, passed away Wednesday July 18, 2018. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Ranger with Rev. Robby Neyland officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. The family will receive friends at the church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
He was born on March 5, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Roy Cherry and Lucy Jewel (Casey) Cherry. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, then the Reserves for 16 years. He married Wanda Sue Haliburton on June 21, 1963 in Clyde. He was a carpet installer working for Ranger Furniture Exchange for 29 years. He was a Methodist and a charter member of the Ranger Jaycees. He loved all sporting games of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved helping his children, being with family and friends, and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Jesse Gilbert Cherry, Roy Cherry, Eddie Cherry, and Bobby Cherry; and 2 sisters, Judy Barbian, and Juanita Rutherford.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Cherry; son, David Cherry and wife Kim; daughters, Teresa Davlin, Toni Wells and husband Michael, Teri Brooks and husband Michael, Damien Hughes and husband Chris; brother, Larry Cherry and wife Carol; sister, Thelma Mathison; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his dog, Presley; and cats, Smokey and Hootie.
