Robert Alton Harris

Alton Harris, 79 of Strawn, passed away Sunday August 7, 2016 in Ft. Worth. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Strawn. Burial will follow at Mt. Marion Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn. The family will receive friends at the Opal Guess Chapel in Strawn Tuesday, 6~8 p.m.
Alton was born on March 13, 1937 in Ranger to John Marion Harris and Audie (Gailey) Harris. He graduated from Strawn High School and attended Ranger Jr. College. He married Peggy Joy Grabin on June 22, 1957 in Strawn. He retired from the block business in Strawn and worked for the Housing Authority, as well as ranching. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Lions Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, as well as spending time ranching, and tending to his cows. He loved helping people in the community.
Survivors include his wife Joy of Strawn; 2 sons, Bobby Harris and Mark Harris & his wife Kathy; a brother, Johnny Marion Harris; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Harris and Derek Harris; and 1 great-grandchild, Lane Fawcett.
