Robert Kincaid

Robert Milton Kincaid, 83, of Rt. 3 Cisco, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013.  The family received friends Tuesday, 5~7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10th at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family hosted a reception at The Country Place Hall, 905 E. Main, Eastland, next to Maverick Stadium after the burial.
Mr. Kincaid was born July 4, 1929 in Olden to Hugh Alvin Kincaid and Flora Elizabeth Branscum. He grew up in West Texas and Howard County during the Great Depression. Robert ranched with his father and extended family in Eddy County, NM during the 1940s. He cowboyed both cattle and sheep, roped, hunted coyotes, and built over 84 miles of fence during his teenage years. He graduated from Hope High School in 1947 and attended New Mexico State University. He married Phyllis Jean Sinclair on December 18, 1948 in Las Cruces, NM. He was a rancher as well as co-owner with father Alvin and two brothers of Kincaid Feed & Turkey Hatchery during the 1950s. The Kincaids had four turkey breeding operations that supplied grower’s in 37 states, Mexico and Europe. From 1964 to the end of his life he was the owner of Kincaid Real Estate in Eastland and the Kincaid Company, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.  He was a member of the Texas Turkey Federation, National Turkey Federation, Texas Sheep and Goat Raiser’s Association, Texas Cattlemen’s Association, Southwest Livestock Raisers, Rotary Club, and served as the Superintendent of Eastland County Livestock Show. Mr. Kincaid was also an adult leader for the Eastland Co. 4-H program for nearly 20 years and during his children’s school years, he was a member of the Eastland Maverick Quarterback Club . He has been an Eastland County resident since 1950. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Alvin Kincaid and Flora Elizabeth Branscum Kincaid, also of Rt. 3 Cisco.
Mr. Kincaid is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Sinclair Kincaid. One son, Karl Edward Kincaid and wife Beverly. Four daughters, Phyllis Kathleen Nobles, Patricia Ann Benson and husband Eric, Milta Louise Vance and husband Leslie, Rebecca Jane McFarland and husband Jack. Two brothers, Aubrey Alvin Kincaid and wife Bonnie, Don Wallace Kincaid and wife Pat. In addition Mr. Kincaid is survived by 4 grandchildren, Joshua David Vance and wife Brandy, Will Hogan, Heather Marie Benson, Kimberly Nicole Benson, 6 step grandchildren, Dennis Arnold and wife Ginger, Deborah Greybeal and husband Walter, Jenifer Nobles Lemionet and husband Gerard, Cari Nobles O’Connor, Leslie Byron Vance, III and wife Millie, Catherine Vance Ernemann, 6 great grandchildren; and 14 step great grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and numerous friends, as well as one cherished aunt, Ann Kincaid Hoover. Robert will be missed by his faithful pet companions, Princess, Sugar Babe, Candy Bar and Zebo the kitty.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to the West Texas Rehab Center in Abilene and New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, NM.
