RANGER – Robert H. Lanam, age 71, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Eastland Hospital. Funeral Services for Robert will be 2 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel at 211 Pine St. in Ranger, TX. An open visitation/ viewing will be from 8 am until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Ranger, TX.
Robert was born July 29, 1946 in Tampa, FL and lovingly adopted just a short time later by Robert S. and Leola Belle Cliburn Lanam in Jacksonville, FL and spent his growing up years in Florida. In March of 1964, he joined the US Army and served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam finally being honorably discharged January 31, 1972
He was a Truck Driver by trade and by his heart and spent 48 years driving the roads of this great country. On July 15, 2000 he married the greatest love of his life, Judy Arnold Mayfield in Tyler, TX and she became his partner in life and on the road until his retirement. Robert also had a huge soft spot in his heart for animals.
He was a member of the Autobahn Association and the VFW. He was also member of Simchat Adonai.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Judy Mayfield-Lanam, sons; Richard and Christopher Lanam, stepson, James Edward Mayfield and wife Melissa, stepdaughters: Karla Rene’ Lapenski, and Sheri Lynette Mayfield, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
