Roberta Marie Hughes

Roberta Marie Hughes, age 93, passed from this life Sunday, September 27, 2015. Services are a visitation at First United Methodist Church Gordon, Texas at 9:00 AM October 10th and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM; burial will be in New Gordon Cemetery.
Roberta was born October 16, 1921 to Floyd and Marie Gonce Hughes in Gordon, TX. She was a graduate of Gordon High School and a member and faithful supporter of the First United Methodist Church in Gordon. She was also a member of the Gordon Woman’s Club. Roberta worked as an accountant for Jones Ford Sales from 1948 to 1964 then for John Stowe Ford from 1965 to 1989.
Bert, as she was known by all who loves her, took over the responsibility of the New Gordon Cemetery when Mr. Slick Jones passed away and no matter how cold or hot, Bert was always happy to help locate graves for loved ones and the area funeral directors.
Survivors include a brother, Clarence F. Hughes of California and a sister, Geneva Ilice of Illinois and a niece, Sandra Hughes. Bert is also survived by her friend and special care giver, Carolyn Reasoner.
