With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved Roger Stephens, who peacefully left this world on June 19, 2024, at Hendricks Hospice of Abilene, Texas. He was born on February 13, 1945 to Earnest Milton Stephens and Lillie Mae Grimes. Roger lived a life filled with simple pleasures and meaningful connections.
Roger was a man of many talents and passions. From his days tinkering with old pocket watches to his time working at Walmart, he found joy in the little things. It was during his time at Walmart that he met the love of his life, Betty Stephens, with whom he shared a lifetime of unwavering love and devotion.
A devoted family man, Roger was the proud father of loving children and doting grandfather, also known as “Pop” to his grandchildren. He was a farmer at heart, finding solace in the land and the rhythms of nature. He loved his community and was a member of Carbon Community Baptist Church.
His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Betty Stephens, and all those who knew him. His daughter; Toni Murray and step-daughter, Natasha Williams; step-sons, Royal Williams and Steven Williams; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Lillie Grims; two brothers, Jackie Dean Stephens and Earnest Wayne Stephens and a sister, Shame Wanzor.
As we gather to honor his life and legacy, funeral services and ceremonies will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM, as we come together to celebrate the impact, he had on all of our lives.
Roger Stephens will be fondly remembered for his kind spirit, warm smile, and gentle soul. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
