Rosy Jean Stone, 82 of Eastland, went home to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday March 19, 2016 in Eastland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22nd, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 21st, at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Mrs. Stone (Nana Jean) was born on May 19, 1933 in Throckmorton County to George Riley and Lona Ford Riley. She married her high school sweetheart, W.J. Stone, on August 26, 1950 in Elbert, TX. They were happily married 52 years. They were both avid sports fans and especially enjoyed watching and following their beloved Dallas Cowboys, Eastland Mavericks, and Throckmorton Greyhounds. W.J. preceded her in death on November 26, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mason Riley and Dell Riley; and sisters, Elsie Kincaid and Opal Pugh. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Eastland. She had a love for writing and would often share that gift by composing hand-written cards of encouragement .She was a loving and caring person who loved to talk and never met a stranger! Most importantly, Nana Jean loved spending time with her family and studying and reading her Bible. She served as the family’s “Prayer Warrior”.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Joanna Maynard & husband Rocky of Burnet, and Kelly Noles & husband Brent of Eastland; grandchildren, Mandy Groothoff & husband Brian of Kingsland, Rusty Maynard of Burnet, J.T. Stone of Fort Worth, Kendell Noles of Stephenville; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaleb Riley Maynard, Kayton Paige Jones, and Emma Rose Maynard. Memorials in Mrs. Stone’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
