S. M. "Sam" Boston

Samuel (Sam) Boston. Graveside services for Sam Boston will be held at Oplin Cemetery in Oplin, Texas at 3 p.m. December 2nd, 2014. Sam passed on to be with Jesus December 1st, 2014 in Ranger, Texas at the age of 89.
Sam was born in Wilks County, North Carolina on April 21st, 1925 to Lee and Elizabeth (Leatherwood) Boston. He had three brothers: Bob, Frank, and Andy who preceded him in death. In 1973, Sam married Katy Jacoby who also preceded him in death in 2004.
Sam grew up in Oplin and Baird, Texas. As a teenager, Sam worked at a small gas station in Oplin before serving in the Army during World War II. After the war, he spent over 60 years in the oilfields of west Texas and New Mexico. He made his home in Hobbs, New Mexico for nearly 50 years before retiring in Ranger.
Sam had a heart of gold that enjoyed his friends and family. He was always ready to go to any event and had a spunky attitude that caused lots of laughter.
Sam was a loving step dad and granddad to daughter, June Guess and husband Ronny of Ranger, Texas; son , Billy Frost and Debbie of Bellville, Texas; granddaughter, Jenny Mabery and family of Tolar, Texas, granddaughter, Talina Baker and family of Azle, Texas, grandson, Matthew Frost and family of Hurst, Texas, and grandson , Russell Frost of Hobbs, New Mexico
