Sandy L. Stephenson

Sandra L. (Sandy) Hale Stephenson, age 78, went to Heaven on November 17, 2014.

“Sass” as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren and great-children, as well as her close friends, was preceded in death by her parents O.C. (Spot) Hale and Madeline (Tootie) Hale.
She is survived by “my sweet baby”, husband Roger Stephenson, sons; Brad and wife Mindy, Britt and wife Christy, and Kyle. Roger’s “girlfriend” and “sweet bride” is also survived by Randy and wife Roberta Donahoe.

Sass leaves grandchildren; William Stephenson and wife Elyssa, Tipton Stephenson, Sean Stephenson and wife Christy, Ryan Stephenson Rowland and wife Heather, Taylor Rowland, Derek Gardner and Reese Gardner and great grandchildren; Vaughan, Regan, Britt, Rhett and Parker.
Sandra L. Hale was born on May 22, 1936 in Nolan County Texas to O.C. and Madeline Hale. She graduated from Sweetwater High School and attended Sul Ross University. After college, Sandy worked for the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce helping organize the first Rattlesnake Roundup.

She married the love of her life, Roger L. Stephenson in 1963 and moved to Midland, Texas. They worked together side by side in the oil and gas business and in 1983, they relocated their family to Eastland, Texas where together they continued to operate Stephenson Oil and Gas, Inc., mentoring many young men and women, both in the oil and gas business and in life.
Sass was a loving and caring wife for 51 years. She loved her family and took particular delight in her grandchildren and great-grand children.
Services are scheduled for, Friday November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eastland with burial to follow at Eastland Cemetery.

Officiating the service will be her dear friends, Chief Justice Jim Wright and Dr. Shawn Brewer and conducted by Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Sean, Will, Tip, Ryan, Derek and Randy.
Sass was one of a kind and a true mentor to many. She left an impression with everyone she met, lit up a room upon her entrance and had one of a kind hugs. She was an inspiration and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, there has been a memorial fund set up for Sass (Sandy Stephenson) for donations to the Arthritis Foundation.
