Sara Anne Treadwell died Thursday, December 19, 2019, in a New Smyrna, Florida, hospital.
Sara was born August 21, 1982, in Austin, Texas, the youngest child of Don and Jean Treadwell. At just eight months of age, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Doctors gave her only days to live. She spent nearly 37 years proving those doctors wrong, bravely overcoming each medical obstacle she faced.
Sara graduated in 2002 from Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida. She was a member of New Smyrna Chapter 3, Order of the Eastern Star, for more than 18 years. She a Majority Member of International Organization of the Rainbow for Girls, and a Majority Member of Job’s Daughters International. She was a caring person who valued family, loved Conway Twitty music, and enjoyed making jewelry to share with others.
Sara is survived by her mother, Jean Treadwell; brother James Kunke and his wife Laurie; sister Robyn Treadwell and her husband Jason Monroe; grandmother Lilian Cozby; nieces Macy, Mia, and Shelby; nephew Austin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Ray Treadwell; her sister, Laura J’Lynn Kunke; and her brother, Jonathan Scott Treadwell.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Texas, alongside her brother and other family members. Graveside service will be officiated by her uncle, Oliver Cozby. Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.
