Sherry Lynn Mcmurray

September 5, 1946 — October 27, 2014

Sherry Smith McMurray, 68, passed from this life Monday, October 27, 2014, at her home at Lake Leon, in Eastland, Texas. Services were held at Lake Leon Baptist Church on Wednesday October 29, 2014 with Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating, followed by burial at Staff Cemetery. Services provided by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland, TX.
Sherry was born in Grand Saline, Texas, on September 5, 1946, to Leo Garland Smith and Argere Pauline Ringener. Sherry was an avid gardener, and enjoyed camping, road trips, cooking for her family, and most of all, working on projects at her church. She graduated from Van High School, worked building electronics for a number of years, and then concentrated on her calling, working with developmentally disabled children at Abilene ISD, and Lewisville ISD, before retiring to Lake Leon. Sherry was a devoted and loving wife and mother, and to know her was to love her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Argere.
She leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 50 years, Don R. (Butch) McMurray; sons, Scott Lee and Shelley McMurray, of Corinth, TX and Darren Todd McMurray and Christina Bynum, of Lewisville, TX; her dad, Leo & step-mother, Viola Smith of Lindale, TX; sister, Linda G. Hardwick of Van, TX; brother, Phil and Dana Smith, of Lindale, TX; sisters-in-law, Norma and Preston Yarbrough, Barbara Ringener, and Janet Lilley, all of Eastland, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her very special friend, Patty Patty of Abilene.
