Simona Tonche Hernandez

Simona Tonche Hernandez passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, April 26, 2014 after a long and hard fought battle of lung disease. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Ranger, TX. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30 from 5 – 7 PM with Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Ranger.
Simona was born on October 28, 1929 in Weinert, TX to Matias and Jobita Biaza Tonche. She grew up in the Haskell, TX area. Simona married Manuel B. Hernandez on December 26, 1945 in Ranger, TX. They were happily married 68 years. Simona was a homemaker, loving wife and mother.
Simona was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Domingo, Sylvester, Jesse, Toby and sister Miquela Carrion.
She is survived by her husband Manuel, daughters: Bertha Finley and husband Jack, and Mary Louise Hernandez, and sons: Earnest Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Jr. and wife Kristi and Santos Hernandez. Simona is also survived by sisters: Elena Villarreal, Isabell Lopez Tonche, Florentina Arellano, and brother, Don Tonche, four grandchildren: Many and wife Amy, Mandi Marie Bethea, Markus and wife Areli and Diego and 6 wonderful great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
