Steve Carl Ballew
September 13, 1946 – December 10, 2023

Steve Carl Ballew passed away on December 10, 2023, after he suffered a seizure due to Parkinsons, which he was unable to recover from. He attended school through the seventh grade in Plano Tx. At the age of 21 he was drafted into the Army, but subsequently joined the Marine’s in 1967. In 1968 he was sent to Vietnam where he served his country and received a Good Conduct Medal. Steve was a truck driver by trade, and something he was extremely proud of, together with his sidekick and better half Barbara, they traveled all over the United States and Canada.

Steve was up for anything that involved having a good time. He loved to sing, he loved to laugh, he loved music, he loved his family but most of all he loved his wife, our mom. He loved Gunsmoke, Cowboys Football and Reba, and not necessarily in that order. His laugh was unmistakable, his smile contagious and his voice was like coming home. Giving people a hard time and kidding around was who he was and if he liked you, he gave you a really hard time, if you won at WaHoo, well you cheated...hahaha. He was very excited about moving to Ranger and being able to attend church at Ranger Church of God with his family, he loved God and being Baptized was his heart’s desire fulfilled.

Next to his wife, his love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren shown all over his face and he lit up every time they entered a room. He was so proud of each one of them, always interested in what they were doing and where they were going. They all knew who to go to if they wanted or needed anything, go ask papa.

Steve is survived by his wife Barbara, three daughters, Tynea Kelley, Sonja Bunker and husband Steve, Teresa Moore and husband Frederick. One son, David Ballew and wife Angie.

Fourteen Grandchildren, Ashley and Jason Williams, Sarah and Jason Bynum, Grace and Kendall McAtee, Grant and Meagan Lewis, Micki Bunker, Gj Bunker, Carl and Hannah Ballew, Alex Ballew and Angela Perry, Zachary Sanges, Kasey Ballew, Anna Chaves, Sydney Cassidy, Serena Cassidy and Toshia Hopson.

Seven Great Grandchildren, Keaton and Rowan Williams, Hunter and Gunner Bynum, Adam and Luke McAtee and Landon Holbert.

Two Sisters, Linda Crawford and husband Earl and Ellen Ballew.

Eight brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. With Steve, brother in laws were brothers, sister in laws were sisters, nieces and nephews were like his kids, to him it was just family. There was no mother-in- law, just mom.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Ballew, mother Lillie Ballew and his son Steven Ballew. Three brothers, Frank Ballew, John Ballew and Wesley Ballew. Two sisters, Velma Lee Ratliff and Della Faye Keeton.

The viewing and service will be held on December 21, 2023, at Ranger Church of God in Ranger Tx.
