Texie Dell Haney, age 92, passed away early Thursday morning, February 16, 2023 at her home in Gordon, TX.
Texie was born August 3, 1930 to William and Robbie Alexander in Jayton, Texas. At a very early age, her family moved to Gordon. As time passed, she would graduate high school (class of 48) marry, and raise a family there.
As a wife and mother Texie perfected the skills of a homemaker, including made-from-scratch 3-layer cakes and delicious cream pies with the flakiest of pie crusts. She mastered the art of sewing, and crafted clothes for herself and her children as well as doll clothes, numerous cheerleader and drill team outfits, prom dresses and school play costumes. After her children left home, she learned to crochet and crafted many beautiful afghans but had to give it up when her eyesight began to fail.
In her youth, Texie learned to play the piano and later on, learned to play the organ, to fill the need for an organist at the Gordon Methodist Church where she was a member. She remained in that role as organist for 20+ years and during that time would play for countless weddings, graduations and funerals as the need arose in her community and surrounding area.
Texie was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Haney, her oldest son Alex Dale Haney, her parents, and brother Billy Bob Alexander.
She is survived by her children Alan Haney, Sara Barron, Linda Tuggle and husband Tim, her grandchildren Mike Barron, Monte Barron, Loretta Greeney, Emily Tackett, Scott Tuggle and 6 great-grandchildren Brady and Brock Barron, Max and Ella Greeney, Beau Barron and Alex Tackett and also, several special nieces and nephews.
