On November 22, 2015, Thomas Daniel Kelleher, 74 of Gordon, Texas was called to be with the Lord in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.
Tom was born on June 6, 1941 in St. Paul, MN to Charlie and Marjorie Kelleher. Tom was 1 of 15 children. Tom joined the Army at the young age of 19 and was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. He served in the Army for 3 years, and that's where he met his wife to be Ada Sperling, one night while riding around in Lawton, OK on the drag. Tom and Ada married in Lawton, OK on November 2, 1963 when he was 22 and they started their family beginning with 2 boys.
In 1966, Tom and Ada relocated to Gordon, TX so he could attend welding school. After school, while Tom was looking for a welding job, he was presented with the opportunity to work at General Dynamics. Tom accepted the position immediately and remained with the company for 5 years. From there, Tom started a job driving a truck hauling building stone as well as working for the United States Postal Service. It didn't take long before he was full time with the Postal Service and continued his career there for 24 years before retiring. After retirement, Tom spent his time riding motorcycles and enjoying time with his family and friends. His house was always open to his friends and his children's friends. If you knew Tom then you would know you were always welcome anytime. Tom also loved church and had a very strong faith. His dedication to the church and his family was unbreakable. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Strawn, TX. He also enjoyed listening to music especially, songs from his favorite artists like Marty Robbins and Aaron Neville. Tom also liked to try his luck at the casinos every now and then.
Tom was preceded in death by his son Thomas Daniel Kelleher in 1982, his brother, Charles Daniel and 4 sisters; June Irene, Marjorie (Pat) Patricia, Lorraine Florence, and Rose Mary.
Tom is survived by his wife, Ada Kelleher; brothers, David Michael, Richard Charles, Donald Frank, Ronald Albert and Robert Joseph, his sisters, Gloria Ann, Charlotte Josephine, Joyce Josephine and Gladys Kathleen (Tootie). His children, Edgar Kelleher of Gordon, TX, Tracy Riffle of Abilene, TX, Stacy Kelleher of Gordon, TX and Jimmy Kelleher of Lawton, OK. Tom is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with numerous other family members and friends.
A vigil with Rosary prayer to celebrate Tom's life will be held Wednesday November 25, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Edward's Funeral Home in Strawn, Texas. Graveside services will be held November 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the New Gordon Cemetery.
