Tommie Melvin Harris Sr

Tommie Melvin Harris SR, 87, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 in Eastland.
Graveside Services were held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 24, 2014 at Murray Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Tommie was born December 9, 1926 in Carbon, Texas to Rodger Jackson and Cliffie E. (Rhyne) Harris. He was married to Frances E. Northcutt. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Tommie served in the United States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal. He worked in the natural gas industry for Panhandle Eastern.
Tommie attended the Leon River Cowboy Church and was a member of the American Legion. Tommie enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling, and doing handyman jobs.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Tommie is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, a grandchild, and a great grandchild.
Tommie is survived by his son: Tommie M. Harris, Jr., his daughter: Tammie Sybesma, his brother: C.B. Harris, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two more on the way.
