Truman Douglas Bryant, 69 years old, passed from this earth on February 23, 2023. He was born in Gorman, TX on April 16, 1953 to Truman and Wanda Bryant. He grew up in Carbon, Texas, played football as a Carbon Wolverine and graduated with the Class of 1971.
Doug went to Cisco Junior College and then began his career as a federal meat inspector for the next 37 years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Carbon, TX to help with aging parents. He worked at Carbon Ag and Outdoors dealing with guns and gun repair for several years before heading back to the Deer Camp in Louisiana.
Doug had a servant’s heart, along with a gift of giving. He loved the Lord, his frequent quote was “if the Good Lord’s willing”. He had a way with writing inspirational messages and left a trail of papers with his thoughts and wisdom jotted down.
He had a passion for hunting deer, shooting and collecting guns and ammo, his favorite times being at The Deer Camp in Louisiana along with his special friends, Sid, David and all the gang. Doug loved to tell stories of his past to anyone and everyone! He never seemed to meet a stranger and especially one that would listen to him!
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved son, Heath Bryant, his parents, Truman and Wanda Bryant, along with his sister, Angie Clower.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Jason) Poole of Iowa, Hannah Bryant of Robeline, LA, son Jody (Tonya) Marr of Robeline, LA and daughter-in-law Clara Bryant of Georgetown, TX. Also, surviving are his grandchildren, Addison, Avery and Blaine Poole, Tess and Tyler Bryant, Kelsey and Emily Marr; great-grandchildren Ashton and Declan; and sister, Candi Taylor.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held Friday, March 3, at Carbon Community Baptist Church (the old Carbon gymnasium) at 10:00 AM, with Jody Forbus officiating. Family Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2nd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, TX. Burial will be held in Murray Cemetery in Carbon, where he will lay to rest beside his son, Heath.
