Veda Burnam

Elverna Burnam, 98, of Eastland, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Eastland. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Burnam was born on December 30, 1914 in Strawn to Boyd Dickson and Edna Lois Wallace. She married Troy Salyer on October 9, 1937. She later married James Oran Burnam on March 20, 1965 in White Settlement. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1993. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland, where she attended the Ruth Sunday School class. She was also a member of AARP, and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and decorated beautiful cakes. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, Royce Dale Burnam.
Survivors include a son, Larry Salyer of Weatherford; a daughter, Janice Blackwell of Eastland; a step-son, James Wesley Burnam of Santa Fe, TX; a brother, Homer E. Dickson of Angleton; 2 sisters, Willadean Butler of Rising Star, and Nelma Hawk of Brownwood; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 1306 W. Main S, Eastland, TX 76448.
