A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday March 8th at 2 pm in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 411 S Mulberry, Eastland with interment following in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday March 7th from 5-7 PM.

Venna was born September 1st, 1934 in Nimrod, Texas to the parents of Hubert Elmer Sullivent and Agnes Elizabeth Thomas Sullivent. She attended school in Flatwood, Morton Valley and was a twirler for Eastland where she later graduated.

She married Jimmy Maples on May 23, 1970 in Eastland, TX and moved to White Sands Missile Range, NM where Jimmy later retired in 1972. After retirement they made their home in Eastland, where she was a house wife and later a Pastors wife at Carbon Christ Center for 34 years where they saw many come to the Lord. She enjoyed singing and worshiping the Lord with friends for many years. She was also an avid yard perfectionist with roses being her specialty. Her main goal was to keep each of her children in check with her expectations, which will be truly missed. One of her grandchildren described her Loving, caring, giving, a cornerstone stubborn (Thomas side I’m told), wife, mother, grandmother, and most important, a child of God.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Kenneth Sullivent, Billie Sullivent, Elmer Sullivent, and Vernon Rains; 1 sister Louise Hodges; daughter-in-law, Linda White; grandson Justin Justice; great grandson Jayden Justice; and 2 great great granddaughters, Maci Jolene Justice and Tea-Maria Noel.
