Vernon Ray Lone passed away on December 30, 2022 and it has taken this long to write about our dear father. Born to Ollie and Loreda Abila on August 10, 1941, Vernon would be celebrating his 82nd birthday this month. He was a Machinist Extraordinaire, Mr. Fix-it, lover of Cookies, and a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Vernon was a resident of the Lake Leon community for over 20 years after retiring and loved living where he could sit on his porch and see the sun come up over the lake with a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Vernon leaves behind daughters, Sharon Young and her husband, Kenneth Killgo, of Fort Worth, Sheila McBride of Arlington, Sue Byrd and her husband, David Byrd, of Aledo, and sons David Phillips of Peaster, and Randy Phillips and his wife Mafalda Phillips of the Azores. Vernon was preceded in death by his son Allen Lone in 1989. Vernon has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren (and counting).
We miss you, Dad.
