Vonda Gay Streiff, age 57, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 29, 2017 after a long illness. A visitation will be held Friday June 2, 2017 from 4-6 pm at Edwards Funeral Home at 411 S. Mulberry St. Eastland, TX. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 3 at the Vera Cemetery just north of Vera, TX on Hwy 82, then turn on CR 3171 about .5 miles.
Vonda was born January 22, 1960 in Seymour, TX to Martha Murphree Boone and Harlan Boone. She graduated from Jacksboro High School in Jacksboro, TX. She married Timothy Streiff, August 1, 1981 in Seymour, TX. After marriage, they moved to Eastland County and have made it their home for nearly 37 years.
Vonda worked as a designer for Victor Cornelius Menus in Eastland and she worked as a seamstress for Eastlander Design also in Eastland. Vonda is notably known for her love of playing games. She loved to play games such as Skip-Bo and Uno often playing through the night while making up new rules as the games went on. She was a true competitor. Vonda also loved getting dressed up for Halloween and spent hours creating unique and fun costumes, but her greatest love was her family and making them laugh. Vonda always had a quick smile and laugh for everyone she met. Even during the last few years of her illness Vonda never lost her laugh or her amazing sense of humor.
Vonda is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Timothy Streiff of Carbon, TX, one son, Cory Lee Streiff, also of Carbon, daughter, Brandy Dale Thomas and her husband Brandon of Ft. Sill, OK, two grandchildren; Blake and Brody Thomas, sister Reda Ford and husband Clint, brother, Hoyt Boone and his wife Carolyn. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Boone, wife of Roger Boone who preceded Vonda in death and many nieces and nephews.
