Wanda was born in Gorman, Texas to the late Ina Malone Mauney and
Sullivan Mauney. She married Robert Hilman Hobbs April 3, 1961 in
Midland, Texas and they were together for 39 years before his passing,
January 12, 2000. Wanda was a housewife and a loving mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors are daughters, Cindy West (husband Blake) and Shannon
Thompson (husband Tim); sisters, Georgie Hutson and Ima Jean Park;
seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one great, great
grandson. Welcoming her to Heaven were her parents, husband, two
brothers, one sister, and countless in-laws that she considered her own.
Known by those who knew her best as Lulu or Wendy, Wanda was the
life of the party. She was quick-witted and willing to do anything for a
laugh. Her home was the location of many family gatherings, fish fries,
pool games, dance parties, and even a wedding.
Her love language was food. She wanted to cook for everyone who
walked in the door. She was well known for her homemade biscuits,
gravy, and fried chicken. Well, she fried everything, and it was good.
Over the years she took in many nephews and family members. She
baby sat numerous family member’s children. She is well remembered
for her love of her grandchildren. She kept numerous newspaper articles
of their successes in sports and academics.
Her greatest love beyond her husband, children and grandchildren was
the love she had for her Lord, Jesus Christ. She read her Bible daily and
prayed often for those she loved.
