Ward Ray Brooks, 45, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Eastland. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Burkburnett City Cemetery.
Ward was born on May 8, 1968 in Lubbock to Ray and Carol (McGaughey) Brooks. He graduated from high school at Floydada in 1986. He was baptized at the Floydada United Methodist Church. Ward entered service with the United States Air Force in 1988 serving in Operation “Provide Comfort”. He met and married Dionette (Dee) Tidwell on Oct. 10, 1999. Ward was employed at Sheppard Air Force base as a Fireman until retiring in 2007. Ward was a member of VFW Post 4136. He moved to Eastland in 2008.
Ward was preceded in death by his wife Dionette (Dee) Tidwell in 2007; father, Ray Brooks; grandparents, Ernest and Louise Brooks and Arthur and Esther McGaughey; uncle, Allen McGaughey; and aunt, Virginia Griffin.
Ward is survived by his mother, Carol Gore and step-father, Larry Gore of Iowa Park; son, Colton Brooks of Eastland and step-son, Stephen McDaniel of Midwest City, OK. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Walker Brooks and wife Christi of Eastland, and Wade Brooks and his wife Alison of Double Oak, TX; 2 aunts, Edith Beck and husband Harold of Vera, TX, and Faye Railsback of Knox City; and his uncle, Ernie McGaughey and wife Marianna of Tulia.
