Wesley Ray Allbright went to meet his precious Savior on April 25th, 2020, at the age of 76, after a long hard battle with liver disease/myeloma. A graveside service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn.
He lived the life of a cowboy, was a construction worker, child care giver, and so many more things. He was a Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great grandfather. He was admired for his love, strength, and his trust in God. He deeply loved his wife Dorothy who “taught him what love really was” and she loved him more than words could say.
His favorite scripture was II Timothy 1:12 (KJV) “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
Wesley loved playing his bass guitar with the band. There were times he was so sick and couldn’t walk but was always willing, ready, and wanted to go play music. He loved to fish, hunt, and play 42. He and Dorothy enjoyed playing 9 hole together. He enjoyed when the family came so they could sit around and sing good ‘ole gospel music while he played the guitar. He said “I have lived a good life and even my dream”. He taught his family so many valuable lessons and he will live on with us and they will pass them on to their children. Dorothy and Wesley were married in 1970 and were married 49 ½ wonderful years. Wesley began his incredible journey on December 28, 1943. He grew up with 3 sisters, Mary, Lois, and Debbie.
Wesley was preceded in death by his father Raymond Allbright, grandchildren Jonathan and Monica Allbright. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allbright; sons: Raymond Allbright and wife Michelle, Tony Allbright; daughters: Mary Jones and husband Roy, Delores Allbright Lee and husband John; mother, Margie Burdic Allbright Hackney; grandchildren, Jessica Allbright, Rebecca Allbright, Erica Allbright, David Allbright, Justin Allbright, Trevor Allbright, Virgil Jones, Joshua Jones, Ashley Qualls, Wesley Jared Qualls, Matthew Lee, Corey Lee, Macy Lee, and Alexis West; and 14 great grandchildren, and many others that lovingly refer to him as a father, grandfather, or great-grandchildren from his years while parenting in foster care.
