William Thomas Bennett

William Thomas Bennett, age 84, went to be with Heavenly Father, beautiful wife, son and siblings on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He was born on May 15, 1939 to Wilson Alfonso Bennett and Nelda Esteline (Massey) Bennett.
William was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gordon, TX and his and Vidilla’s faith was the foundation of their marriage for 55 beautiful years, till her passing in October of 2023. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. William married Vidilla Carol (DeMars) Bennett on August 31, 1968 in Salinas, CA. William loved woodworking and was very talented. William was strong, had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, gentle and calm, which is a character you don’t find in many these days. William remained calm through all situations. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. He met many friends throughout his years working with TxDOT. He was loved by many, cherished his family and will be sorely missed by so many.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Jeff and Tom Bennett and wife Pathoumvan; one daughter: Nicki Bennett; daughter-in-law: Sherri Goforth; brother: Gary Don Bennett of CA; five grandchildren: D.J., J.J., Katie, Brooke and Lauren; one precious great-grandbaby: Luca Maxwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was reunited at the Pearly gates with his wife: Vidilla Bennett; son: Duane Sanders; four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, April 15, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10am, Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at ExRay Cemetery on Hwy 108 with Bruce Fambro officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn, TX.
