William Pete Guthrie

June 2, 1940 — May 20, 2021

RANGER – William “Pete” Guthrie, age 80, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 20, 2021. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home Eastland.
Pete was born June 2, 1940 in Ocean Park, WA. His parents were Howard Tyrell Guthrie and Erma Grace Willoughby Guthrie. He married his childhood sweetheart Doris Francis Clements December 6, 1957 in Shepherd, MI, together they celebrated 63 years together. Before moving to Eastland, he worked for Redpath Mining as a Mining Engineer so when moving to Eastland it made perfect sense to go to work for Sterling Monument in sales, with his vast knowledge in granites. He was a shrewd business man, as well as a scratch golfer. Pete was also a talented carpenter. To all those who were blessed to have known him, he was an adventurer. Pete traveled the world in search of another mining opportunity and most time, his loving family was by his side. He was a fun and loving Dad and Grandpa. Everyone who knew Pete will miss him dearly.
Pete is survived by his wife, Doris Francis Guthrie; son, David Howard Guthrie; daughters, Teresa Lynn Cleaver and husband Darrell Glen of Ranger, TX, Debra Anne Wilkening and husband Patrick Eugene of Eastland, TX; and Tamara Lynn Guthrie; sisters, Carol Brookens, Margaret Mottram, Mabel Buker, and Lois Eldridge; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Marie Wright, Jennifer Nicole Lestico, Stephanie Anne Tucker and Jean Rachel Moderson; and 3 great grandchildren, Evelyn Moderson, Samson Moderson, and Perrin Wright.
