William Monroe “Bill” Howard, 88 of Eastland, passed away Wednesday in Abilene. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cisco. Arrangements were under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
Bill was born on June 19, 1927 at Long Branch to Albert Howard and Gertrude Martin Howard. He married Cecile Grace Trascher on December 16, 1944 in New Orleans. They lived in New Orleans for 42 years before moving back to Eastland. He served in the Merchant Marines, the U.S. Army, and the Marines. He was a carpenter for 26 years, and a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cisco.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Laurent; and a sister, Mandy Fay Harbin.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Grace Howard of Eastland; a son, Billy R. Howard of Abilene; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
