Willie Mae Cozart, 96, of Eastland, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. Visitation was held Sunday, March 10th at Edwards Funeral Home from 4-6:00 p.m. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Eastland City Cemetery with Doke Johnson officiating and under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
Willie Mae was born on April 2, 1916 to Virgil H. Garrett and Lou Ella (Williams) Garrett. She was raised in the Flatwood community, where she was the only doted on daughter with four big brothers. She attended school in the Flatwood community, and later married Raymond Hendricks in 1934. Willie Mae and Raymond had three children, two sons and a daughter. She helped Raymond farm and worked at the Hollywood Vassarette . Raymond passed away in 1959, and Willie Mae and her daughter eventually moved to Eastland. She retired at the age of 62, when she met and married Delbert B. Cozart. She thoroughly enjoyed life and became an avid traveler. She loved camping, the holidays, and her family. Willie Mae was a devoted daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lou Ella Garrett; husband, Raymond Hendricks; husband, Delbert Cozart; sons, Harold Dean Hendricks and Jimmy Dale Hendricks; daughter, Zelma Willoughby; son-in-law, David Willoughby; and grandson-in-law, Terry Peeples.
She is survived by eight grandchildren, Dean Hendricks of Cisco; Doug Hendricks and wife Jennifer Hendricks of Eastland; Dale James of Cisco; Kathi Johnson and husband Doke Johnson of Eastland; Kerri Peeples of Eastland; LaQuita Mox and husband Greg Mox of Madison, AL; Darryn Willoughby and wife Vickie Willoughby of Waco; Kristen Carroll of Eastland; daughter-in-law Jackie (Hendricks) Plumlee and husband Walt Plumlee. She had numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
