GORDON – Wilma Estalene Dillard, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Graveside services for Estalene will be at 2 pm Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, TX. She will lie in state on Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at Edwards Funeral Home, 215 Housley St., Strawn, TX.
Estalene was born October 4, 1926 in Jean, TX to Hughie C. and Loreatha Crabb Downey. She was a graduate of Graham High School, where she was named Most Athletic Girl. She played volleyball and softball into her forties, and after that, she continued her love of sport by following her favorite teams, the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks.
Estalene married Wesley Dillard in 1946, and spent the next 34 years being a wife, homemaker and mother. Upon their retirement in 1980, she spent her time traveling, hiking, sightseeing and fishing with her husband, family and friends.
She was married for 69 years to Wesley Dillard, who preceded her in death in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Hollis Downey; sister, Margaret Graham and a granddaughter, Melanie.
She is survived by a son, Jack Dillard and wife Linda; daughter, Mary Abrahams and husband Lonnie and youngest daughter, Deb Stowe: one sister, Erlene Lowery; grandchildren, Lori, Rob, Bobby, Wesley, and Kiwa; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Liam, Micah, Kaitlyn, Preston, Parker, Stephanie, Katrina, and Marcus; great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Adilynn, and Elouise. She is also survived by her constant companion and much loved little dog, Sadie.
